Benefits of Studying with Lyman
My philosophy revolves around inspiration and simplicity. Homing in on the music that excites you, and exploring that, so you can play the music that you love. Music is also really hard, and people learn differently. There are dozens of ways to approach even the simplest of moves. It’s my goal to find the pathways that make the most sense for you.
In the vast landscape of information and resources in the digital world, it can be difficult to sort through everything and make sense of it all. With my 15+ years of experience in professional music and my own personal study in the digital age, I strive to give all of my students access to the good information and useful sources in tandem with personalized individual instruction.
Instruction doesn't conclude at the end of the lesson either. All students will also have 24/7 to my e-mail, where any question or challenge they face with music between lessons can be answered.

Testimonials
Whether you are a beginner trying to learn basic chords, or an expert trying to grasp a more detailed understanding of music theory, Lyman is an unparalleled guitarist and music instructor. I have been taking lessons with Lyman over the past year and every lesson has been worthwhile. These lessons have helped me not only become a better musician but cope with the isolation and personal challenges brought about by Covid-19. Every step of the way Lyman’s encouragement and support has inspired me to stay engaged in music. I am excited to continue learning and highly recommend Lyman as a musical instructor.

“I’ve been working with Lyman for just under a year now and seems to me that he is a natural when it comes to mentoring. I’ve been playing guitar since the age 15 and I’m currently 24 years old. For the most part I’m a self taught vocalist and guitarist aside from high school choir classes. Prior to working with Lyman, I had very little organization skills, poor leadership skills, and very much so lacking self discipline. Lyman has taken the time to to get to know who I am as a person as well as a band mate. In doing so, he now knows what drives me to learn. And HOW I learn. Lyman has been so patient in explaining the very basics of Music Theory. I’ve always been intimidated by people with Lyman’s level of knowledge In these areas, but rather than telling me what is right and what is wrong, Lyman has always been one of the best to make me feel like music is not about having a “ceiling”, but honing in on my unique strengths as an artist/performer. Thanks to Lyman, I’m able to create schedules for multiple people and identify some music theory.” -Tyler King (Colleague)
